Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal, ensuring you have the correct activation code if your radio has an anti-theft system. Under the dashboard, remove the cotter pin from the master cylinder pushrod clevis and pull out the clevis pin to disconnect the pushrod from the pedal. Detach the clutch master cylinder reservoir, located in the left rear corner of the engine compartment, by removing the two bolts and lifting the reservoir out of the way. Clamp a pair of locking pliers onto the clutch fluid feed hose to prevent fluid flow when the hose is disconnected. Disconnect the hydraulic lines at the cylinder, loosen the fluid feed hose clamp and detach the hose from the cylinder. Cap or plug the ends of the lines to prevent fluid leakage and the entry of contaminants. Under the dash, unscrew the two clutch master cylinder retaining nuts and remove the cylinder. To install, place the master cylinder in position and install the mounting bolts finger tight. Connect the hydraulic lines to the master cylinder and attach the fluid feed hose to the cylinder, tightening the hose clamp. Tighten the mounting bolts securely, then tighten the hydraulic line fitting securely. Connect the pushrod to the clutch pedal using a new cotter pin to secure the clevis pin. Remove the locking pliers from the feed hose, fill the clutch master cylinder reservoir with brake fluid conforming to DOT 3 specifications and bleed the clutch system.
