- Q:I have completed troubleshooting in accordance with the factory repair manual and determined that the ECM is at fault. My question is about the programming of a ECM when installing it into my car. Do i need to bring this part to the dealership to be programmed after purchase? In theory, if i were to purchase a used part which is the same would that have to be programmed by a dealership? Or will both or either work simply by connecting the connectors to the ECM?
