Q:
How Do I Remove and Replace the Air Intake Duct and Air Filter Housing? Posted by Customer
A:
Clearly label all cables and hoses, noting the routing of the cruise control cable, EVAP canister purge valve-to-throttle body hose, coolant hose for air filter box radiator, and Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) fresh air inlet hose. Detach or disconnect them from the air intake duct and set them aside. Detach the left end of the air intake duct from the air filter box, which uses a spring to secure it, ensuring to align the locator tab on the duct between the two ridges on the air filter box when installing. Loosen the hose clamp that secures the air intake duct to the throttle body. Before removing the air intake duct, lift it up slightly to verify no more cables or hoses are attached. If you're planning to replace the air intake duct or either resonator, loosen the hose clamp(s) and remove the resonator(s). Installation is the reverse of removal. AIR FILTER BOX 2004 and earlier models: Remove the air intake duct. Pinch off the two coolant hoses to the radiator inside the air filter box. If you don't have suitable tools for pinching off the coolant hose, drain the coolant. Then detach the coolant hose bracket from the air filter box cover, loosen the two hose clamps, and disconnect the coolant lines from the radiator hoses. Remove the air filter box cover and the air filter element. Remove the two air filter box bolts and the air filter box. If replacing the radiator inside the air filter box, remove the four radiator cover bolts, the cover, the radiator mounting bolt, and the radiator. Installation is the reverse of removal. Refill the cooling system if drained. 2005 and later models: Disconnect the ducts from the box, remove the two mounting bolts, and lift the box up. Installation is the reverse of removal.
