- Q:How Do I Replace the Rear Hub and Bearing Assembly on a Honda CR-V? Posted by Customer
- A:The rear hub and bearing are combined into a single assembly. The bearing is sealed for life and requires no lubrication or attention. If the bearing is worn or damaged, replace the entire hub and bearing assembly. Start by loosening the rear wheel lug nuts, raising the rear of the vehicle and supporting it securely on jackstands. Block the front wheels to prevent the vehicle from rolling and remove the wheel. If you're working on an AWD CR-V model, remove the driveaxle/hub nut. Next, remove the brake drum or disc. From the backside of the knuckle, remove the four retaining bolts securing the hub assembly to the knuckle. Remove the hub and bearing assembly from the spindle. If equipped, remove the O-ring. Installation is the reverse of removal, noting the following points: Install a new O-ring (if applicable) and tighten the hub bolts. On models with rear disc brakes, tighten the caliper mounting bracket bolts. On AWD CR-V models, tighten the driveaxle/hub nut. Install the wheel and lug nuts. - A:Using the proper adapter and press plate, press the hub out of the knuckle/wheel bearing with a hydraulic, from the back side to the front. Using a bearing splitter and the proper adapter, press the hub through the bearing inner race. Remove the screws and detach the disc splash shield from the knuckle.
