Q:
How to remove and replace fuel injectors and Fuel Rail in Honda Ridgeline? Posted by Customer
A:
Relieve the system fuel pressure. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Remove the engine cover. For 2001 and 2002 Acura and 2003 and 2004 Honda models, disconnect the electrical connectors from the fuel injectors. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the fuel pressure regulator. Remove the fuel pulsation damper and disconnect the fuel supply line banjo fitting from the junction block. Remove and discard the old fuel line banjo fitting sealing washers. Then slide back the hose clamp and disconnect the fuel return hose from the fuel pressure regulator. Disconnect the fuel supply hose from the front fuel rail then remove and discard the old O-ring. Remove the fuel rail mounting bolts then remove each fuel rail and its three injectors as a single assembly. If any of the injectors are difficult to extract from their bores, carefully pry them loose. Remove each injector from its bore in the fuel rail. Remove the fuel strainer from each injector, wash it thoroughly in clean solvent and set it aside. Remove and discard the upper O-ring the cushion ring and the lower O-ring. Remove and discard the seal ring from the each injector bore in the cylinder head. Coat the new cushion rings and upper O-rings with clean engine oil and slide them into place on each of the fuel injectors. Insert the fuel strainer into the top of each injector. Coat the new lower O-rings with clean engine oil and install them on the lower ends of the injectors. Coat the outside surface of each upper O-ring and cushion ring with clean engine oil, then insert each injector into its corresponding bore in the fuel rail. Coat each new seal ring with clean engine oil and press it into an injector bore in the intake manifold. Install the injectors and fuel rail assembly on the intake manifold. Tighten the fuel rail mounting bolts securely. The remainder of installation is the reverse of removal. When you're done reassembling everything, reconnect the cable to the negative battery terminal. Turn the ignition switch to ON (but don't operate the starter). This activates the fuel pump for about two seconds, which builds up fuel pressure in the fuel lines and the fuel rail. Repeat this step two or three times, then check the fuel lines, fuel rails and injectors for fuel leaks. For 2003 and later Acura and 2005 and later Honda models, follow the same steps with some minor differences.
