  Q: How to replace a Steering Knuckle?

  A: Loosen the wheel lug nuts, raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Remove the wheel. Remove the driveaxle/hub nut. Remove the brake disc. Remove the wheel speed sensor from the knuckle. Separate the tie-rod end from the steering knuckle. Remove the strut-to-steering knuckle nuts, but don't remove the bolts yet. Separate the control arm balljoint from the steering knuckle. Separate the driveaxle from the steering knuckle. Support the end of the driveaxle with a length of wire so the inner CV joint isn't overextended. Remove the strut-to-knuckle bolts and separate the knuckle from the strut. Remove the hub-to-steering knuckle bolts, then detach the two components and remove the brake disc splash shield. Assemble the hub, knuckle and splash shield. Tighten the bolts to the torque. Lubricate the splines of the driveaxle with multi-purpose grease. Guide the knuckle and hub assembly into position, inserting the driveaxle into the hub. Push the knuckle into the strut flange and install the bolts and nuts, but don't tighten them yet. Attach the control arm balljoint to the steering knuckle. Attach the tie-rod end to the steering knuckle arm. Tighten the Tie Rod End nut and the strut-to-knuckle nuts to the torque. Install a new cotter pin through the tie-rod end ballstud. Place the brake disc on the hub, lining up the marks made, then install the caliper. Install the driveaxle/hub nut and tighten it to the torque. Install the wheel and lug nuts. Lower the vehicle and tighten the lug nuts to the torque.
