Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal and drain the cooling system. Disconnect the air conditioning evaporator lines at the firewall, mark the heater control valve cable at the retaining clip and release the clip to detach the cable. Turn the heater valve arm counterclockwise to the fully open position after the cable has been disconnected. Disconnect the heater hoses from the heater core at the firewall, remove the heater/air conditioning unit mounting nut from the firewall within the engine compartment, disconnect any electrical connectors to the unit and the heater valve control cable that is located on the left side, remove the mounting fasteners and then lift the heater/air conditioning unit out of the vehicle. Remove the mounting screws for the upper and lower ducts, disconnect the electrical connectors and harness fasteners on the unit, remove the mounting screws for the heater outlet duct and then remove it, remove the mounting screws for the heater core cover and then remove it, and remove the heater core.
