Remove the negative battery cable and also take off the instrument cluster bezel. Replacing the drivers side knee bolster for 1995 and earlier models: All the cluster mounting screws must be removed; for the 1995 and earlier models the front and bottom screws are located on each side of the steering column. For 1998 and later models make sure that the locator pins at each end of the cluster fit through the holes in the mounting flange while pulling the instrument cluster towards the steering wheel. On the cars manufactured before 1995, remove the speedometer cable from the back side of the instrument cluster, and disconnect any wires that will interrupt the removal process. To remove the trim covers, put on a cloth over the steering column, and following this; take out the instrument cluster from the car. Installation is basically done in the reverse order to the removal process.
