    Most electric rear view mirrors utilize two motors for adjustments, two, one for the vertical movement and the other for the horizontal movement. The control switch has a selector to select whether the voltage to right side mirror or the left side mirror is to be supplied. With the ignition ON, the engine OFF, fully open the doors, roll down the windows and operate the mirror control switch through all functions for both mirrors listening to the sound of the electric motors. If the motors are noisy, but mirror glass does not move, typically a dysfunction concerns the drive assembly; in this case mirror has to be removed and disassembled to reveal the concern. If the mirrors are uncooperative, that is, they do not reflect anything and do not produce any sound, then one should check the fuse. If the fuse is not blown, the mirror control switch should be disconnected, the switch removed without disconnecting the wires and the ignition turned on; one terminal of the new switch should show voltage. If missing, search for an open or a short circuit between the fuse panel and the switch. If voltage is present, turn off the switch and place the switch in all positions and verify that there is no continuity; if continuity is present the switch must be replaced. After reconnecting the switch, identify the wire connected to ground and get a wire jumper and join this wire to the earth; in case the mirror works well, known that there was a problem with the earth connection. If the mirror does not work, take it off and touch the mirror wires with the ignition ON and the selector switch at the proper position and confirm voltage at one of the switch to mirror wire on all positions excluding the neutral 'off' position. If voltage is missing in any place, measure the circuit for opens or shorts. If voltage is confirmed, test the mirror off the vehicle using jumper wires, if it fails this test it should be replaced.
