All related components - the airbags, sensors, controller, and seat belts - work on electric power that gets triggered when front sensors pick up impacts. The airbag module has a built-in protective housing with two main parts: a soft cushion and an inflator unit connected via a special cable. This cable can send needed signals to each part without changing how they fit with the steering wheel. When you start the vehicle, the control unit checks system performance and crash sensors, making the "Airbag" light come on for five seconds to show it is working properly. When an impact sensor gets thrown into action, electrical signals run through its closed connection to open the airbag for protection.
