    Location of battery/load may be such that a switch has to be positioned at a distance from the two, defeating the purpose of a low voltage drop by having a long wire. 'This eliminates this voltage drop when a relay is placed between the battery and load and since the switch controls the relay, it passes a reduced amount of amperage'. To check the system and diagnostic the problem first remove the negative battery terminal, then measure the resistance between terminals 3 and 4 or A to B. After that apply +12v across terminals 1 and 2, check for the resistance that is available between terminals 3 and 4 or A to a. If the resistance is not in the specified range or the multimeter shows '-' then the relay has to be replaced. One has to remove the negative battery terminal, find the relay, and then unplug the wire connector if it is for removal. If this is required then undo the attaching bolt and take out the relay and the process of installation will be vice versa of the above mentioned.
