In the case the shock absorber is to be replaced with a new one, it is advisable to replace both the shocks on rear of the vehicle. Start by lifting and bracing the rear part of the car in the aspects of jacking as well as towing. Lift the automobile with a jack and remove the bolts that hold the shocks in place with the differential off the ground but the automobile still on the jack: do not attempt to remove the shock absorbers with the automobile raised and with the axle unsupported. Remove the lower suspending nut of the rear shock and separate the lower end of the shock from the spring plate and then unscrew the upper suspending nut placed above the frame area to totally separte the upper end of the shock from the frame and remove the rear shock absorber. In case of unit malfunction, the unit should be replaced with a new one, if the rubber bushings are worn out they also have to be replaced. As what has been indicated earlier, install the shocks in the reverse order that they were removed; however, it is necessary to raise the car off the ground before you tighten the mounting bolts and nuts. Last of all, jack up the rear of the vehicle several times to have the bushings penetrate the holes and tighten the nuts to the recommended torque.
