Honda 51606-SH3-014 Shock Absorber Unit, Left Front (Showa)

Raise and support the front of the vehicle on jackstands and remove the front wheels. Remove the brake hose clamp bolt and use a floor jack to support the lower control arm. Remove the lower shock retaining bolt from the steering knuckle, then slowly lower the jack. Compress the shock absorber by hand, then remove the two upper lock nuts and the shock absorber. For installation, reverse the removal procedures, ensuring to use new self-locking nuts on the top of the shock assembly mount and torque them to 28 ft. lbs. (39 Nm), while also installing a new self-locking nut on the shocks aft and tightening it to 33 ft. lbs. (45 Nm). Tighten the lower pinch bolt to 47 ft. lbs. (65 Nm) and install and tighten the brake hose clamp to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm). For inspection, check for wear or damage to bushings, look for oil leaks from the shocks, examine all rubber parts for wear or damage, and bounce the vehicle to assess shock absorbing effectiveness, ensuring it continues to bounce for no more than two cycles.
