You need to wait three minutes with the negative battery cable disconnected before installing or removing the cruise control switch on Civic cars. First, take off the steering wheel and back panel on the wheel. Lift the switch up and unscrew its bolts that mount it to the steering wheel. After removing the cable from the negative battery terminal, install back the wires when you reverse the removal steps and reconnect the cable to the negative end. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal and wait three minutes before working on the hazard flasher switch. Pull the bottom left-side interior trim from your car, along with the instrument panel assembly trim. Next, disconnect the electrical connectors while pushing the panel far enough to do so. Flip the instrument panel trim upside down so you can access the hazard flasher switch by unplugging its electrical cable and unscrewing the holding screws. Disconnect the negative terminal cable, wait three minutes, reconnect it, and you're done. If you want to replace the rear window defogger switch, you need to buy a complete new heater and air conditioning control assembly.
