- Q: How to replace a headlight on 2002 Honda Passport?A: Loose the negative cable of the battery. For the sealed beam types, you will need to take the radiator grille then, using your fingers put out the headlight retainer screws while making sure that the adjustment screws are untouched. If you want to replace the headlight pull out the retainer and pull headlight assembly out a little bit to accommodate the connector release, then pull out the headlight. Thus, refitting of the new headlight involves roding the wiring connector, putting in place the new headlight, placing of the retainer and screws and tightening was done before refitting the radiator grille. For halogen bulb varieties, headlight assembly extends behind to remove the electrical connector. For reference year of 1997 and before, unlock the retaining clip and open the bulb holder out of the housing. To change a bulb in 1998 and later models pull out the bulb holder by turning the ring counterclockwise by 1/4 turn and push down the locking tang to release the electrical connector, then remove the bulb holder from the headlight housing. For all models: The old bulb is to be removed from the socket and for handling the new bulb no bare hand should be put on the glass and should be covered with lightweight cotton gloves while the new bulb is being inserted into the socket. The rest of the installation is done in an order opposite to the one they were removed, and check whether the headlight is functioning well after the installation is complete.
