2002 Honda Passport Shock Absorber Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install a shock absorber on 2002 Honda Passport?
A: Lift the front, of the car and support it using jackstands and then proced to take off the four wheels of the car. Subsequently, it is necessary to delete the upper shock-absorbing stop by unscrewing the nut with the use of the locking pliers, thus it does not rotate on the flats of the shaft. Note position of the washers and rubber bushings above and below the bracket and replace them in the same position; where necessary replace any worn out rubber bushings. The upper washer and rubber bushing must be taken off the shaft of the shock absorber and the through bolt must be taken off to disconnect the shock from the lower arm but the washer used must be retained in order to be reused for installing the new shock. Compress the shock absorber right to the end and pull it out, take out the lower rubber bush and washer as well. As for assembly, the procedure is the reverse of the disassembly process, paying particular attention to the correct orientation of the washers and rubber bushings; the upper nut and the lower nut and bolt is to be tightened to the prescribed torque.
