Honda CRX Washer Pump

The Honda CRX Washer Pump delivers pressurized washer fluid from the small washer reservoir to the windshield nozzles to ensure drivers have a clear view of the road in all weather conditions. Throughout the life of the CRX, access to the compact electric Washer Pump has been favored, based on a straightforward motor and impeller to draw fluid upward as soon as the steering column stalk is tapped and then funnel through hoses to the twin spray jets on the cowl. Unlike more complex hydraulic systems, this self-contained Washer Pump unit only requires the feed of twelve volts and a clean reservoir to run, which helps keep weight low and is in line with the Honda performance focus. Factory Honda part numbers stayed steady as well, which helps owners who need an exact fit. No significant alternative styles were fitted to production CRX models, so drivers will usually find a single outlet or dual outlet version that will differ only in nozzle count and not overall design or mounting points. When failure comes, a direct replacement Washer Pump usually costs not much, with professional labor often costing differently, and a healthy Washer Pump draws only minimal current, making upkeep of the Honda CRX windshield cleaning system affordable and straightforward.

Honda CRX Washer Pump Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install the Washer Pump and Washer Reservoir on a Honda CRX?
    A:
On 1984-87 models, the washer fluid reservoir is accessible through the engine compartment; however, the washer fluid tank in cases of 1988-91 models demands a front bumper cover to be unbolted. The front and rear washer motors are included in the reservoir of all models. Start by removing the first of the negative cables on the battery. For 1988-91 models the front bumper cover must be removed. Subsequently, pull the electrical leads out from the washer pump motors along with the connector and then remove one of the hoses connected to the reservoir to drain the washer fluid and it should be collected in a suitable receptacle in order to be reutilized. Pull the other hose loose from the tank, and then undo the tank retaining bolts, which vary according to the car's production year: 1984-87 models need two, while 1988-91 models require three. For the 1984-1987 models, the tank is to be slide off from above through the engine hood while for the 1988-1991 models one has to remove it from beneath the car. If required, the washer pumps can now be removed. If the pumps were removed, then these need to be placed back at the tank installation and then the tank needs to be fixed in its place at the car and then the mounting bolts need to be tightened to 7 ft. lbs. (10 Nm). Attach the electrical lead and hoses; refit the front bumper assembly, (early model), (late model); rejoin the negative terminal on the battery. Last of all, add water into the reservoir and then check the functionality of the system.
