Honda Pilot Air Duct
The Honda Pilot Air Duct protects the engine by sending only clean and metered airflow from the filter box to the combustion chambers, preventing particles of dust, sand, and debris from scouring the pistons and cylinders. Nestled just beyond the air filter, the Air Duct also houses the mass air flow sensor so that the computer can match the fuel to the exact volume of incoming air to prevent lean spikes when the vehicle is accelerating. In the event the Air Duct becomes cracked or loose, unfiltered air will sneak in after the sensor and rob power and can risk costly wear, so keeping this sealed passage intact is as vital as routine oil changes described in Honda service schedules. Across the first and later generations of the Pilot, the Air Duct has always maintained a molded plastic design with reinforced bends that fit tightly to the throttle body, although the newer versions of the Pilot have been given more ribs that resist vibration and help quiet intake noise while every version of the Honda model still counts on secure clamps and a rigid path of Air Duct to help maintain the accuracy of the airflow and maximize the longevity of the car's engine.

- Q: How to remove and install the air intake duct,Air Filter Box and resonator on a Honda Pilot?A:Disconnect the PCV fresh air inlet hose from the Air Duct. Clearly label any other cables and hoses that are attached or connected to the Air Duct, then detach or disconnect them and set them aside. Disconnect the left end of the Air Duct from the air filter box. Loosen the hose clamp that secures the Air Duct to the Throttle Body. Remove the Air Duct. If you removed the Air Duct just to access some other component(s) skip this. But if you're planning to replace the Air Duct itself, or either of the small resonators attached to the duct, loosen the hose clamp(s) and remove the resonator(s). Installation is the reverse of removal. Remove the Air Duct. On 2001 and 2002 Acura and 2003 and 2004 Honda models, detach the cruise control cable clip from the air filter box. Remove the air filter box mounting bolts and remove the air filter box. Inspect the condition of the air filter box insulator(s). if an insulator is cracked, torn or otherwise deteriorated, replace it. Installation is the reverse of removal. The resonator, which is used on 2003 and later Acura and 2005 and later Honda models, is located below and ahead of the air filter box, in the void behind the left corner of the front bumper cover and in front of the left front wheel well. Raise the front of the vehicle and place it securely on jackstands. Remove the front bumper cover. Remove the side branch tube from the resonator. Remove the resonator mounting bolts and remove the resonator. Installation is the reverse of removal. For 2007 Acura models, remove the air filter box. Remove the battery. Remove the front bumper cover. Remove the left headlight housing. Remove the two clips that secure the small plastic cover and remove the cover. Remove the two resonator mounting bolts and remove the resonator. Installation is the reverse of removal.
