    How to remove and replace an alternator in the Honda Ridgeline? Posted by Customer

    Interfere with the cable connection to the negative terminal while also removing the engine cover and drive belt then the nut on the B+ terminal. First disconnect the battery cable from B+ terminal while removing its nut before you disconnect the 4-pin electrical connector which requires peeling back the rubber weather boot followed by taking out the nut from B+ stud-type terminal and disconnecting the output cable from the alternator. Uncover the second rubber boot to separate the four-pin electrical connector that connects the alternator. First detach the upper mounting bolt of the alternator from its bracket before you elevate the vehicle by placing jackstands securely beneath it. After removing the splash shield you must detach the alternator from the lower bracket by removing the mounting bolt before taking out the alternator unit. To replace an alternator make sure to bring the old unit to purchase an exact replacement unit that matches in appearance and possesses identical electrical terminals and identification numbers. Some new or rebuilt alternators arrive without built-in pulleys hence check with the store about pulley exchange procedures and acquire a pulley puller if required for removing the pulley from the original unit. Procedure for installation follows the reverse process of removal by securely fastening the alternator mounting bolts. After connecting the negative terminal cable to the battery check the charging voltage to validate proper alternator operation.
