Honda 06302-PT2-000 Igniter Unit Kit (Nec/Elesys)

On the 1984-87 fuel injected engines, ToyoDenso introduced an igniter unit installed on the side of the distributor housing. Begin by disconnecting the negative battery terminal, then remove the igniter cover-to-distributor screws and the cover. Next, pull the igniter unit from the distributor. If necessary, perform the igniter unit troubleshooting procedures. Apply silicone grease to the connector housing, and to complete the process, reverse the removal procedures.

First of all, make sure you inspect and commence all the Honda engine codes you get beforehand. So initially, check No. 32 fuse of the dash fuse box as shown above before you test it. Take the distributor cap and rotor out together with the leakage cover; this will require the disconnection of the wires from the igniter. Switch on the ignition switch and place the meter probe between the BLK/YEL wire and ground; no voltage reading should be obtained, inspect the BLK/YEL wire and ignition switch. Likewise, measure for voltage between the WHT/BLU and any ground; if there is none, examine the WHT/BLU and the ignition coil. Check the continuity between the WHT wire and body ground and fix the wire or the connectors if it is required. Also, measure the continuity between the BLU wire and body ground; absence of continuity When it is missing, look at the wire and connectors from the igniter unit up to the tachometer or the NT control unit. If all tests produce normal results, go on and replace the igniter unit.

Remove the distributor cap retaining screws, along with the distributor cap and seal, and slide off the leak cover.
