Honda 56110-P11-020 Power Steering Pump Sub-Assembly

Disconnect the negative battery cable and set a storage container under the car. Turning the adjusting bolt helps; next, free the mounting bolts and nuts to take off the power steering belt, or move the pressure off the auto tensioner on the belt and remove the serpentine drive belt. Put cloth over the alternator to keep power steering fluid from getting inside the unit and damaging it. Disconnect both pump hoses and plug them to keep dirt out. Safely spill clean-up to safeguard the paint. Unbolt the power steering pump from the vehicle then gently take it off. Use tape to seal both ends of the pump, stopping debris from getting inside. Install the parts backward to removal, tighten the mounting bolts to 17 ft-lbs (24 Nm), fasten the outlet hose with 8 ft-lbs (11 Nm), and hand-tighten the mounting nut to 17 ft-lbs (24 Nm). Follow the manual: Tighten all bolts and clamps, check and adjust your v-belt when power steering needs it, and refill pump with Genuine Honda liquid only. Scrape up any dripping fluid, then operate the engine while switching between left and right steering to remove air from the system. Spill-free maneuvering requires: 1) adding Genuine Honda P.S. Fluid to overflow point, 2) running engine idling plus turning wheel full length each way to push air through, 3) realign fluid level within limits before excess, 4) monitoring the power steering system for leaks.

It may cause seal failure, increased wear, and poor steering in cold weather.
