    Q:
How is the HVAC Pressure Switch Installed and What Steps are Involved in the Process on a Honda Civic? Posted by Customer
    A:
The HVAC Pressure Switch is mounted in the refrigerant line between the condenser and the evaporator, detecting low (28 psi) and high (455 psi) refrigerant line pressure, shutting the system off if the pressure falls below or exceeds these values. Begin by having the refrigerant discharged and recovered by an air conditioning technician. Next, set the parking brake, block the rear wheels, and raise the front of the vehicle, supporting it securely on jackstands, then remove the under-vehicle splash shield. Locate the switch on the right side of the vehicle and unplug the electrical connector from the HVAC Pressure Switch, ensuring clarity by removing the front bumper cover if necessary. Unscrew the pressure switch from the line, holding the stationary fitting with an open-end wrench to prevent damage. Lubricate the switch O-ring with clean refrigerant oil of the correct type, then screw the new switch onto the refrigerant line and tighten it securely. Reconnect the electrical connector and have the system evacuated, charged, and leak tested by an air conditioning technician.

    Q:
How Should the HVAC Pressure Switch Be Handled on a Honda Crosstour? Posted by Customer
    A:
On newer models made after 2008, the pressure switch watching air conditioning pressure automatically stops the system if pressure moves outside what's allowed. A pro needs to do two things: discharge and recover the refrigerant, then make sure a tech does it. You can find and remove the electrical connection from the air pressure switch on the refrigerant line close to the compressor. Loosen the pressure switch from the condenser unit. Then apply clean refrigerant oil to the O-ring on the switch from a standard can of oil. Pull the electrical connection back on from the switch, tighten the new switch finger-tight around the valve lines, and finally screw it down tightly. Have the shop that discharged your refrigerant system finish by vacuuming it out, filling it with correct fluid, and checking for any leaks.

    Q:
How Should the HVAC Pressure Switch Be Handled on a Honda Accord? Posted by Customer
    A:
The air conditioning pressure switch should be handled by a qualified technician. It is located on the refrigerant line adjacent to the compressor. The switch should be unscrewed, lubricated with clean refrigerant oil, and screwed back in place. Reconnect the electrical connector and the system should be evacuated, charged, and leak-tested.
