Before continuing, have a dealer service department or automotive air conditioning shop release any air from your car's air conditioning system. Unplug the negative terminal connection on your car battery. Drain the cooling system. Disconnect and remove the bolts holding the evaporator side AC lines at their mounting point inside the engine bay. Before starting, remove the evaporator air conditioning lines from the TXV inside the dash, pull apart the heater hoses from the heater core. Take the nut off the inside engine compartment that connects the heater unit, being careful not to hit any critical fuel or brake line. Remove the instrument panel. Unplug both electrical parts connecting the blower motor and transistor. First, remove all heater/air conditioning assembly mounting bolts. Disconnect electrical connectors, then take out the whole assembly from your vehicle. Push the carpet out of the way to reach, then pull out the drain tube running from the evaporator. Take out the heater/air conditioning housing bolts that hold the blower unit in place and then split the housings apart. Unscrew and pull off the passenger side heater duct with its screws. To get at the heater core, first remove all the screws holding the expansion valve cover in place. When your car comes with air conditioning, take off both screw covers and use a new seal to replace the one that came out. Remove the heater pipe bracket screw and bracket. Open the cover over the heater and air conditioning unit. Remember to reconnect the hoses connecting the heater core to the firewall when putting it back in. Reconnect the battery. Refill the cooling system. Get shops to evacuate, check for leaks, and restore your air conditioning system as they took out the refrigerant.
