    Loosen the wheel lug nuts, raise the vehicle, and place it securely on jackstands before removing the wheel. Next, remove the front axle assembly and the axle shaft-to-hub snap-ring from the hub assembly. Disengage the outer end of the axle shaft from the steering knuckle and hub, then remove the axle shaft assembly towards the center of the vehicle. Take the axle shaft and axle mounting bracket to an automotive machine shop to have the bearing pressed off the inner end of the axle shaft assembly for separation from the bracket. Inspect the bearing for excessive wear; if it's worn, replace it and discard the old seal. After replacing a CV joint or boot, return the axle shaft assembly to the automotive machine shop to have the axle mounting bracket and new seal installed, along with pressing on the bearing, ensuring a new seal is used even if the old bearing is being reused. Installation follows the reverse order of removal.
