Before attempting any repairs, ensure you have the radio security codes and the relearn procedure. If the battery is disconnected, the audio system will need to be reset, and you should have your 5-digit code ready. If not, with the ignition ON and radio OFF, press the 1 and 6 preset buttons, then turn on the radio to display the audio unit's serial number, which can be used to obtain the 5-digit code from your local dealership parts department. Begin by disconnecting the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. For 2008 and earlier models, remove the center panel, disconnect the antenna and radio electrical connectors, remove the mounting fasteners securing the brackets, and then remove the fasteners securing the audio unit to the center panel. Installation is the reverse of removal, followed by reconnecting the battery and performing the necessary relearn procedures. For 2009 and later models, remove the center dash lower cover and center panel, take out the USB adapter secured by two screws, remove the bracket securing the center panel and audio unit, and then remove the screws securing the audio unit to the center panel. Installation is again the reverse of removal. For door speakers in 2008 and earlier models, remove the door trim panel, pry the top of the speaker to release the clip, lift the speaker to release the hooks, disconnect the electrical connector, and reinstall in reverse order. For 2009 and later models, remove the door trim panel, take out the single screw at the 12:00 o'clock position, pull up to disengage the lower clips, disconnect the electrical connector, and remove the speaker, with installation being the reverse of removal. For door tweeter speakers, remove the door trim panel, disconnect the electrical connector, remove the screws from the tweeter grill and speaker, and reinstall in reverse order.

Before beginning the procedure, ensure you have the anti-theft code for the radio and have noted the frequencies for the radio station preset buttons. Start by removing the climate control assembly. For 2013 and later Crosstour models, take out the individual climate control switch mounting screws and switches from each side of the radio to access the radio mounting screws. Next, remove the radio mounting bolts by detaching the two screws from each side and take the radio out of its mounting bracket. Installation follows the reverse order of removal. For the front door speakers, first remove the front door trim panel. The speakers are secured by three clips-one larger clip at the top and two smaller clips at the bottom. Carefully pry the speaker out by pushing down on the larger upper clip, then lift the speaker to disengage the bottom clips. Disconnect the electrical connector by depressing the two release tabs and remove the speaker. Installation is again the reverse of removal. For the tweeters, pry up the tweeter speaker grille with a small screwdriver and disconnect the electrical connector. Separate the tweeter from the grille by carefully prying loose the three small lugs that lock it in place, taking care not to damage the thin cylindrical plastic housing. Installation is the reverse of removal. For the rear speakers, open the trunk and disconnect the electrical connector from the speaker you wish to replace. Push up the four split locator pins for the speaker grille to detach it from the rear shelf trim panel, then remove the grille. Next, remove the speaker mounting screws and pull the speaker out of its receptacle. Installation is the reverse of removal.

For models with navigation, remove the center lower trim panel and the heater/air conditioning control assembly. The radio and control assembly share mounting brackets, so remove the radio mounting screws from each bracket and remove the radio. Installation is the reverse of removal.
