The air conditioning pressure switch, which detects low and high system pressure and shuts the system off if the pressure exceeds preset values, should be handled by an air conditioning technician who can discharge and recover the refrigerant. The electrical connector from the air conditioning pressure switch should be unplugged. It should be noted that on 2007 and earlier models, the switch is mounted to the condenser near the lower line fitting, while on 2008 and later models, the switch is located on the refrigerant line just adjacent to the compressor. The pressure switch should be unscrewed from the condenser. The O-ring on the switch should be lubricated with clean refrigerant oil of the correct type. The new switch should be screwed in place until hand tight, then tightened securely. The electrical connector should be reconnected. Finally, the system should be evacuated, charged and leak tested by the shop that discharged it.
