Q:
How to remove and install a throttle body on Honda Ridgeline? Posted by Customer
A:
Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Pinch off the two coolant hoses to the throttle body; if you don't have suitable tools, drain the engine coolant until the level in the cooling system is lower than the throttle body. Remove the air intake duct. For 2001 and 2002 Acura and 2003 and 2004 Honda models, detach the cable bracket from the throttle body, but leave the accelerator and cruise control cables attached to the bracket. Disconnect the electrical connector from the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor, the Throttle Position (TP) sensor, and loosen and slide back the hose clamps to disconnect the coolant hoses from the throttle body. Be prepared for any coolant spillage. Disconnect the Evaporative Emissions (EVAP) purge valve hose and the electrical connector from the idle Air Control (IAC) valve. Remove the bolts and nuts that attach the throttle body to the intake manifold, then remove the throttle body, the spacer, and the gaskets. Clean all traces of old gasket material from the throttle body, spacer, and intake manifold. During installation, use new gaskets and tighten the throttle body mounts. Check the coolant level afterward and adjust if necessary. Check the accelerator cable slack and adjust if needed. Reconnect the cable to the negative battery terminal, start the engine, and check for leaks. For 2003 and later Acura and 2005 and later Honda models, disconnect the electrical connector from the MAP sensor, the throttle body, and the two coolant bypass hoses. Prepare for coolant spillage. Remove the bolts and nuts securing the throttle body to the upper intake manifold, then remove the throttle body and its gasket. For installation, simply reverse the removal steps. After reattaching the cable to the negative battery terminal, start the engine and check for leaks, then adjust the coolant level if needed.
