The Honda has a trapsaxle where the transaxle and the differential are combined to make the most of space and to transmit power from the engine to the transaxle and further to the differential. It then gets to the front drive axle halfshafts, then to the front wheels in this case. The GW transaxle is a derivative of the GV 4-speed transaxle, and while it also features a mainshaft assembly, countershaft assembly, synchronizer assemblies, shift forks and a differential, the former also locates a reverse light switch to complete the reverse light circuit during backing up. The L3 Series can be considered to be the model later on the GW transaxle.
