    How to Check and Adjust Exhaust Valve and Intake Valve Clearances for the Honda Civic? Posted by Youngok H.

    Valve clearances are adjusted when necessary, such as when replacing valvetrain components or if there's noticeable noise. To check, listen to the engine; if noisy, adjustment is needed. This should be done with a cold engine. Remove the valve cover, position the number one piston at Top Dead Center (TDC), and adjust the number one cylinder's valves, starting with the intake valve clearance. Use a feeler gauge for correct thickness. After adjusting, tighten the locknut. Repeat for other valves. Rotate the crankshaft to adjust valves for other cylinders, then reinstall the valve cover.

    Valve Clearance Intake: 0.21－0.25 mm (0.009－0.009 in) Exhaust: 0.25－0.29 mm (0.010－0.011 in) Suggest replacing the valve cover gaskets depending on how old they are. p/n 12341-R40-A00 (1) 12342-RYE-004 (4).
