Drain the differential oil into a suitable container by removing the drain plug, then disconnect the driveshaft from the companion flange. Next, remove the Axle Shafts, followed by the differential carrier retaining bolts from the axle housing. Carefully remove the carrier from the axle housing, using a soft mallet if necessary. For installation, position the carrier and install the mounting bolts, tightening them to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm). Reinstall the axle shafts and connect the driveshaft to the companion flange. Finally, fill the differential with the correct amount of oil until it begins to overflow from the filler plug hole, and lower the vehicle.
