To replace the antenna on a Civic, the user has first to remove the antenna lead found at the radio. After that, take a piece of string or wire and join it with the antenna lead at the radio end, next unscrew the mounting bolts and take out the antenna from the body pillar. Tie the wire or string on the new lead of the new antenna then as you lower the new lead into position the wire or string pulled in the pillar. Then there shall be disconnection of the string or wire and later connecting the antenna lead to the radio before finally firmly securing the nut at the base of the antenna mounting screw. Regarding disassembly, for the Del Sol, start at the mast, lock nut, then the nut, and finally, the spacer. Move on to the right side interior panel and you will have to take out the mounting nut and disconnect the antenna lead after which the assembly has to be pulled through an opening in the fender. Last of all, installation is just the opposite of removals.
