- Q: Where is the Engine Control Module (ECM) located and what precautions should be taken before removing it on Honda Del Sol?A:The Engine Control Module (ECM) is situated in the passenger compartment forward of the footwell on the right-hand side of the car behind the dashboard kick panel. Before starting, always kill the air bag system and be certain to have the correct code to unlock the stereo if it has a security code. Take carpet out from the area of the lower panel assembly and the floor area under the right end of the dash and set it aside notably. Next, slide back the kick plate which reveals the relay panel and the ECM which can be accessed after undoing the nuts, which hold the kick plate and then pulling it gently away from the passenger compartment. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the ECM except when working on an engine from a non-running position with the IG switch off. Loosen and capture the retaining nut on the ECM bracket and take out the ECM while wearing an anti-static bracelet and store the ECM on an anti-static pad.
