Honda Del Sol Intake Manifold

The Honda Del Sol Intake Manifold directs the air-fuel mixture to flow into every cylinder, which allows the small engine to breathe freely as well as develop sharp power. First models had a straight-runner Intake Manifold based on constant airflow, whereas subsequent Del Sol and VTEC trims featured a variable length Intake Manifold adjusting the length of the runners, with Helmholtz resonance to increase mid-range torque and maintain high rpm pull. This Intake Manifold directs air around lengthy passages at low revs towards speed and then changes to short passages as rpm increases towards volume to maintain dense mixtures. Every Honda engine obtains smoother walls, reducing drag, controlled turbulence, breaking the fuel droplets, and light composites, which reduce mass. These modifications make the Del Sol in the Honda lineup sprint faster and consume less fuel. To Honda enthusiasts, the final Del Sol generation retained this polished Intake Manifold for peak efficiency.

Honda Del Sol Intake Manifold Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How do you remove and install the intake manifold on Honda Del Sol?
    A:
Before attempting to pull the intake manifold, disconnect the cable from the negative terminal on the battery and have the activation code of the base of the radio in case the car stereo has an anti-theft feature. Disconnect the intake air ducts from the air cleaner assembly; drain the cooling system. Indeed, if the vacuum lines and electric connector exist they should be labeled and disconnected, whereas all the hoses and other items that can be attached to the intake manifold should be detached as well. Disconnect the accelerator cable from the throttle lever and unbolt the coolant hoses which are connected to the intake manifold. Remove the fuel feed and return hoses that are connected to the fuel rail; go to the engine compartment and remove the manual bracket that supports the intake manifold by removing the bolts. Third, another one bolt is nearby the EGR valve and it is rather hidden; therefore, take off the thermostat housing assembly from the intake manifold. Last but not least, it is necessary to unscrew the intake manifold bolts and pull the intake manifold off the engine and carefully observe the nut behind the EGR flange casting that is impossible to see from above. If installing on a new kiln, clean the manifold nuts with solvent and dry with compressed air if possible. Flattess test of the mating surfaces should be carry out with the help of precision straight edge and feeler gauge simultaneously, checks for cracks or distortion of the manifold and if it is found to be correct should be replaced with new one or take it to automotive machine shop for surface rectification. Inspected for worn or damaged intake manifold bolts or studs and replaced those that are bad with new ones. Scrape off all the remnants of gasket material from the contacting surfaces of the Cylinder Head and the manifold; after that, wipe the surfaces with the lacquer thinner or acetone. Swapping the intake manifold with a new gasket and loose of the bolts, tightening them with fingers then turn other adjacent bolts then the opposite bolts in sequence until the intake manifold bolts reach the standard torque. The rest of the to uninstall procedure is in the reverse sequential order of the installation process.
