- Q: How do you remove and install the intake manifold on Honda Prelude?A:For the removal and installation of the intake manifold for various engines follow the steps, The first step should be to turn off the vehicle engine and remove the negative terminal of the battery, finally drain the engine coolant in a jug. Remove cooling hoses, vacuum hoses and electrical connectors; drop the fuel rail and injectors on 2.2L and 2.3L engines. If possible purchase or borrow a thermostat housing removal tool or remove the upper intake manifold plenum to make it easy. In this section, it is also possible to note some amount of carbon deposits at the bottom side of the intake manifold After that clean up all the gasket surfaces and install a new gasket After that install the manifold nuts while crossing them to make sure that the tension between the new gasket and the engine block as well as between the new gasket and the intake manifold is balanced. For 2.7L engines, the following steps are also followed, disconnecting several hoses and electrical connections, removing the fuel rail and injectors, positioning new gaskets and components properly.
