Honda Prelude Sunroof

Honda Prelude Sunroof contributes a boost of breezy light and an uplifting sense of space to every ride. This Honda overhead Sunroof panel slides or tilts open, allowing the occupants to enjoy fresh air, daylight, and sky views, making routine commutes resemble open air cruising while still being protected from noise generated by the road. Early Sunroof versions in the Prelude line featured manually operated steel panels that lifted and slid underneath the skin of the roof, but later generations of the Sunroof had glass assemblies that were motor driven and allowed to vent or retract at the push of a switch, providing smoother action and a clear view even when closed. In each generation of Honda, the Prelude roof cutout was improved so that the Sunroof could open wider without compromising body strength. The glass is typically tinted, reducing glare but allowing sunlight to shine in. Although marketing once referred to fixed glass panes as moonroofs, the movable Sunroof is the feature that's common throughout the coupe's production years. Drainage channels around the frame redirect water away so the cabin doesn't get wet and internal seals reduce wind whistle to make Honda driving always seem composed yet airy inside the Prelude.

Honda Prelude Sunroof Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How do you open and reinstall a sunroof on Honda Prelude?
    A:
To open the Half-Sunroof, make it half open and then pull the liner to the front bottom and then unsnap it. Subsequently, slide the liner to the back to yield the pins from the holder and pull it out. Finally, remove the mounting bolts of the panel from the panel bracket and with due caution you remove the sunroof from the car. It is recommended to check the sunroof liner clips before reinstalling duration of the liner and to replace where necessary. Lower the sunroof panel to where it is just adjacent to the sunroof seal and not more than 3/32 inches above the roof then install the sunroof on the reverse of the procedures stated above. There Power Sunroof has a motor to close it and if this fails it can be closed by disconnecting the slotted plug between the two sun visors and use the tool from the kit to manually wind it closed. One has to unscrew the headliner and then pry this off, disconnect the motor's electrical connection, and take out the screws that hold the motor to the bracket assembly and then pop it out. Installation is as follows in the reverse of the removal process.
