Honda Ridgeline Cooling Fan Assembly

The Cooling Fan Assembly is thus important for Honda Ridgeline vehicles since it helps to control the temperature of the engine by providing a passage to air over the radiator. The common arrangement of this assembly consists of a fan blade, a mounting shroud, and a motor located in the vicinity of the radiator to cool hot coolant before returning it to the engine. Different Honda Ridgeline models employ both the mechanical cooling fan assembly, as well as the electric one. Mechanical fans are connected to the water pump shaft and can be engaged or disengaged by means of thermal clutch It works only in low-speed ranges where there is less noise and more fuel consumption. The AC cooling fans, which are electric, and with a 12V motor, draw power depending on coolant temperature and AC requirements, to circulate air through the radiator and condenser as required. The choice between these types depends on the improvement in car design, and, for example, the Ridgeline of the more recent production is equipped with electric fans.

Honda Ridgeline Cooling Fan Assembly Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to check and replace the Cooling Fan Assembly on Honda Ridgeline?
    A:
If your Honda or 2006 or earlier Acura car's engine is burning too hot and both Cooling Fan Assembly are not working, start by checking the fuses. Unplug the electrical connection for each fan motor and hook your battery to it to see if it works. When a fan motor won't turn on, you need to order a new one. If the fan motors work, inspect both relay boxes - one in the engine compartment fuse/relay container and another near the Powertrain Control Module. Check if both fan relays are working correctly. Then look at the wires that connect to each fan motor. When everything checks out fine, find someone skilled to help with the next step. If everything checks out, have an expert check your cooling fan system. To take the fan apart, detach the battery and tray, then the plastic Radiator cover, and disconnect all fan shroud wiring connections, except those going straight to the fans. Detach the ground from the radiator support, empty your car'sliquid cooling system, unhook the upper radiator tube, take off the hood catch, then pull off the lower engine splash shield. You then need to take off the bracket for the hood latch, unlatch and lift up the driver's side fan assembly by unbolting it, and take out the passenger side condenser fan assembly. To disconnect the fan from the motor, undo the nut holding the shaft while you remove the fan motor from its holder by unscrewing the mounting screws. Putting the hood back in place follows removal, but follows these essential steps to ensure the hood latch aligns and for checks with the right antifreeze blend when the engine reaches normal running temperature.
