Honda Ridgeline Crankshaft Position Sensor

The Crankshaft Position Sensor in Honda Ridgeline vehicles is as vital as the other sensors in that it helps in measuring the crankshaft position and the rate of its rotation, information that is dispatched to the powertrain control module. These parameters are then used to effectively control ignition time and fuel inject time influencing several parameters of the engines. Regarding the role of the sensor in these new models of management, these interact with a camshaft position sensor other to perform the function of variable valve timing and initiation of the starting of the engine. Some of the usual used Forms of the Sensor are inductive sensors, the Hall Effect sensors, magnetoresistive sensors, and optical sensors and all these forms are not the same regarding strengths and weaknesses. A faulty crank sensor causes starting troubles, and a cut-off of the engine; the symptoms include irregular idling and sluggish acceleration. In sum, the Crankshaft Position Sensor plays a critical role when it comes to Honda Ridgeline cars' performance.

Honda Ridgeline Crankshaft Position Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Remove and Install the Crankshaft Position Sensor in the Honda Ridgeline?
    A:
Put the front of the vehicle up in the air, then use jackstands to keep it lifted. Remove the engine cover. Lift and support the vehicle, then disconnect the engine cover. Take off the crankshaft pulley and both upper and lower timing belt covers. Loosen the bolts holding the CKP sensor harness shield, then detach both shield nuts and free the sensor and shield wiring. Unbolt and remove the CKP sensor, carefully take the sensor out of its engine block location, disconnect the electrical wire, and lift the sensor out. Installation is the reverse of removal.
