To remove the tailgate trim panel, protect the bottom and sides, remove four screws, and use a rubber mallet. For the upper right latch, detach the lock rod, remove bolts, and the latch. For the right lower hinge/latch, remove the hinge bolts and hinge. For the tailgate, remove the trim panel, rear bumper, and energy absorbers, disconnect connectors, and unbolt the striker and hinge. Remove the remaining bolts, pull the handle, and lift the tailgate.
