Honda Ridgeline Transfer Case

Honda Ridgeline vehicles depend on their Transfer Case because it distributes engine power to all four wheels so drivers can access four-wheel drive (4WD) and all-wheel drive (AWD). Through the transmission the system gets connected to deliver power through driveshafts which end at differentials. Ridgeline provides two types of Transfer Case that either use part-time or full-time systems which allow drivers to choose between 2WD and 4WD activation but full-time systems come with center differentials or viscous couplings to improve traction capacities. The Honda Transfer Case contains high and low range gears but low range offers specific capabilities during tough off-roading situations. The technique for shifting has progressed from basic manual levers to contemporary electric-motor controlled dash-mounted controls. The transmission of gears or drive chains to deterioration results in substantial operational breakdowns. The need for urgent attention arises when 4WD engagement becomes problematic together with unusual operating noises from the Honda Ridgeline Transfer Case.

Honda Ridgeline Transfer Case Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install a transfer case in a Honda Ridgeline?
    A:
Raise the front of the vehicle and securely support it on jackstands. Mark the relationship of the driveshaft to the transfer case flange, then unbolt the driveshaft from the flange. Suspend the driveshaft with a piece of wire (do not let it hang by the center support bearing). Drain the transaxle lubricant. Remove the subframe stiffener by removing the fasteners securing it. Remove the front exhaust pipe. Remove the bolts securing the transfer case to the transaxle, then carefully remove the transfer case from the transaxle. Installation is the reverse of removal, noting the following points: Install a new O-ring to the case. Tighten the mounting bolts. Refill the transaxle with the proper type and amount of lubricant.
