Undo the cable connected to the negative battery terminal, unplug the VTC oil control solenoid valve in the Timing Cover, unwind the right front wheel's lug nuts, lift the car's front end, and put jackstands to hold it up securely. Remove the right front wheel. Clean the engine space below by pulling out the splash shields. Empty the engine oil, then remove the drivebelt. Loosen and take out the mounting bolts for the drivebelt tensioner. Then, disconnect the tensioner from its place on top of the timing chain cover. Take off the crankshaft pulley afterward. Before you take off these electrical connections, first disconnect the crankshaft position sensor harness. Lower the fluid from the cooling system. If your engine has a water pump and oil joint pipe, take off the bolt that holds it in place. Push the oil joint tube hat sits next to the water pump backwards, take off the ring, and pull the pipe out. Place the floor jack under the engine, with a piece of wood between the jack and the oil pan to keep you from scraping the pan. Unplug ground cable, engine mount, and right-side mounting bracket, then take off the valve cover. starting with removal of the bolts, then you pull the timing chain cover off while also clearing away the gasket between it and the block. Check and clean off all surfaces where the timing chain cover attaches to the block and the cover itself, being gentle with scraping since some engine parts are made of aluminum. If necessary, replace the crankshaft seal. Rub RTV silicone sealant onto both the block and cover mating areas where the upper engine contacts are, the oil pan attachment points, and just a small drop in the bolt hole threads. Put a new O-ring on the timing chain cover, then place the cover back onto the engine and fasten its bolts. Make sure the bolts go into their original spots. Hand-tighten the cover until it touches the engine block at every part. Attach the bolts and tighten them with the needed torque, place a new O-ring where the oil cooler meets the joint pipe, and put the pipe into the water pump, fastening the bolt to the specified torque. Put the drivebelt tensioner in place, then tighten the bolts to the correct force. Lastly, put on the crankshaft pulley. Fasten the wiring harness connectors back into place and use clamps to secure the wiring. Reassembels everything in reverse order of taking it apart. Adds recommended oil to the crankcase, replaces the cooling fluid, reconnects the car battery, turns on the engine, and looks for leaks, while making sure all fluid containers stay full.
