    Q:
What Components Need to Be Removed to Replace the Rear Crankshaft Seal on a Honda CRX? Posted by Customer
    A:
The rear crankshaft oil seal is located in a separate housing at the back of the block, and replacing it necessitates removing the transaxle, flywheel, clutch housing, and oil pan. Both the front and rear crankshaft seals are installed after the crankshaft has been torqued, if it was removed, using special drivers for the installation process.

    Q:
How to install rear Crankshaft Seal on Honda Del Sol? Posted by Customer
    A:
The new crankshaft must be put in place and the main bearing caps tightened before putting into place the new Crankshaft Seal and its retainer on the block. First, start unlatching the old sealing by putting a hammer and a punch and pull the seal out from the back side with the help of wooden blocks from below the retainer. It is recommended to observe the amount of inset that the old seal is from the new retainer bore, because the new Crankshaft Seal should inset the same distance. Do not scratch or damage the bore in order to stop the oil leak. Check that the retainer is clean and then place a drop of engine oil to the outer lip of the new Crankshaft Seal. Place the seal well into the retainer bore and in case of press being unavailable, place the retainer and the seal between two wooden blocks and use a large vise to force the desirable seal into the retainer bore. In the other case, place the retainer on a workbench and force the Crankshaft Seal into the bore with a wooden block and a hammer, so that the seal enters the bore in a square manner. You also need to double check using a feeler gauge to ensure that the clearance from the seal to the retainer is the same all the way round. Running a layer of RTV sealant about 1/32 of an inch thick along the whole periphery of the retainer should suffice. Generously apply multi-purpose grease or engine oil on the seal lips and place the seal/retainer over the crankshaft and screw it onto the block securing it with a new gasket that has RTV sealant applied on one side of the gasket and the block surface where the seal/retainer is to be fitted. Last but not the least, slowly and gradually tighten the retainer bolts up to the said torque and then cut off the extra length of the gasket with the help of wire cutters or a small hacksaw and ensure that the gasket surface on the oil pan does not get scratched.

    Q:
How to remove and install the rear main crankshaft seal and transaxle on a Honda Prelude? Posted by Customer
    A:
Driveplate should be detached from the crankshaft then, to get to the crankshaft rear crankshaft seal, it has to be teased out of its retainer. For installation clean engine oil should first be applied to the lip of the new seal, the seal should then be placed onto the crankshaft and into the retainer with the help of the seal driver, after which the driveplate and the transaxle should be replaced.
