    What is the location and removal process for the input shaft (mainshaft) speed sensor on the Honda CR-V? Posted by Customer

    2015 and later CR-V models lack an input shaft speed sensor. Find the sensor on the top of the transaxle on Civics, or on the backside of the transaxle on 2014 and earlier CR-V models. Remove the air filter housing and possibly the battery for more space. Disconnect the sensor's electrical connector, remove the mounting bolt and sensor, and discard the O-ring. To install, reverse these steps, using a new O-ring and a special spacer washer for an SLXA transaxle.

    CR-V models have their output shaft speed sensor located on the transaxle backside or near the fluid level dipstick. Remove the air filter housing in the case of Civic 1.8L and early CR-V models. In the case of Civic 2.4L, one needs to raise the vehicle, put it on jack stands, and remove the splash shield. Disconnect the sensor's electrical connector, remove mounting bolt and sensor, and throw away the O-ring. To install a new O-ring securely tightening bolt reverse these steps.
