Honda 28900-R9L-004 Sensor, Position

Before you start, pull up on the parking brake and remove the CVT speed sensor connector, unwrapping any straps or using bolts to release the wiring. Neatly relocate the wire so you can get to the transaxle range switch. To put the cable into the right spot, pull the vehicle into Park, unhook the shift cable from the shift lever's control rod and the cable attachment point from the transaxle body. Turn the shift lever 2 clicks counterclockwise to transfer the transaxle from the Park position into neutral. Untuck the locked tab to get the bolt and control lever out of the control shaft, then undo the transaxle range switch bolts and remove the control shaft cover, pulling the range switch off the shaft. First, put the transaxle range switch on the control shaft where it lines up with the neutral position. Then screw in the bolts loosely and adjust the position of the switch before tightening all bolts. After removing everything in the reverse order listed above, we put everything back together step by step from start to end. First, turn the ignition to On and make sure the shift lever goes through each gear. Then check that the gear position match the switch on the transmission. Keep the engine running only when you select the Park or Neutral gear, and check that Reverse gear lights activate when you turn your shift lever. Adjust the transmission range switch until all conditions pass.
