You need someone who has a lot of experience to manage this work. If you don't have experience and think you will make mistakes, call a specialist to help you. First, remember to remove the cable from the negative battery terminal. Leave the engine flowing natural fuel through cylinder number 1. Move the crankshaft a little counterclockwise to compress the timing chain tensioner, then put a 0.06 inch pin through the alignment holes to lock the tensioner in place. After this, take off four bolts that hold the timing chain, then work down to smaller parts: the new chain tensioner, upper chain guide, pulley guide, and the chain itself. Wash away dirt and inspect the chain tensioner, timing chain guides, timing chain, crankshaft bearing, and camshaft gears to see if any part is wearing down or broken. Replace those with low quality. Make sure to turn the crankshaft by hand before starting the engine. Rotate it two full revolutions at least - stop if you feel any resistance and search for problems. First, place the crankshaft sprocket timing mark on the engine lock pointer in the right spot. Also check that the VTC actuator and exhaust camshaft sprocket chain alignment dots each face twelve o'clock, with top dead center alignment marks opposite of each other. After installing the chain, align the crankshaft sprocket with the colored link in the chain, place the chain over the exhaust camshaft sprocket and the VTC actuator so their marks are aligned. Place the camshaft timing chain guide and the tensioner arm in place, tighten the bolts as stated in the service manual, put the timing chain tensioner and upper timing chain guide in, then add equal torque to the bolts. Push out the pin from the timing chain tensioner, spin the crankshaft slowly forwards two turns, then make sure all timing marks and camshaft sprocket index points are back in correct alignment. When the crankshaft gets stuck while turning, don't force it - it's likely a sign of valve timing problems. Take out the chain and try the installation process again. Finish by putting on the
Valve Cover and timing chain cover, reconnecting the battery, starting the engine, and making sure it doesn't leak.
