Honda Ridgeline Air Duct
Honda Ridgeline Air Duct provides a controlled amount of air to the engine to maintain strong and clean combustion protected from abrasive debris. By feeding air through the filter box then routing it past the Mass Air Flow sensor, the Air Duct is responsible for ensuring only sensor verified oxygen is available to the cylinders for the computer to match the fuel correctly and not have a lean burn which can scar the pistons and valves. Earlier Ridgeline incarnations had a simple plastic Air Duct that connected the air box with the throttle body, and the later trucks became contoured in style with added resonator chambers, with this modification smoothing intake pulses for quieter cabin sounds and more stable sensor readings. On the current Honda Ridgeline models, the Air Duct also places the MAF sensor in a perfect straight section enhancing metering accuracy. No matter what style, each Air Duct must be sealed, as even a tiny crack could get beyond the filter and suck in dust, sand, and leaf fragments that would choke out oil film, jam up filters, grind away rings, and cylinder walls. This Honda design aids engines in breathing up to 10,000 gallons of purified air per gallon of fuel to support long Ridgeline service life as well as reliable Honda performance.

- Q: How to remove and install the intake air duct, air filter box, and resonator on a Honda Ridgeline?A:Before working on specific Honda years (2005 and newer) and Acura models (2003-2006), you must disconnect the PCV fresh air inlet hose from the Air Duct, clearly label all the cables and hoses you take off. Remove the left side of your air intake duct from the Air Filter Box, loosen the clamp holding it to the Throttle Body, and take off the hose. Don't do this step if you took off the main hose for other work; but if you need to handle the intake duct, loosen the holding clamps. Take out the mounting bolts from around the air filter housing, then pull off the entire housing. Check the insulators for scratches or cracks. If you see any damage, install fresh ones. To reach the resonator, lift the front of your vehicle on jackstands, unbolt the front bumper cover, disconnect the side tube from the resonator, then remove the bolts holding the resonator. Taking it apart is exactly like when we put it back together, in reverse order.
