Honda Ridgeline Hood

The Honda Ridgeline Hood is the pickup's solid front shield, protecting the engine bay from weather, debris and low speed collisions and still easily opened for routine checks. Built from crash-energy-absorbing steel or lightweight aluminum panels, the Hood creates the first crumple zone in the truck, bending out in a controlled manner to absorb force that may otherwise be passed on to passengers. For many Honda drivers, the combined defense and convenience that this panel provides adds peace of mind. Owners of the Honda like the fact that a clean, rust-free Hood also keeps the vehicle looking sharp, because corrosion hidden under a coat of paint can spread rapidly and affect structural strength. Early Ridgeline models essentially applied heavier steel skins, which provided rugged durability but were heavy, while later versions began to incorporate aluminum sections, which reduce weight for improved fuel economy without compromising protection. Despite these changes in materials, however, every Hood across the Ridgeline line still hinges forward, latches securely at the grille and incorporates an inner reinforcement frame that channels impact energy away from the cabin. Regular visual inspections help drivers identify bubbling paint or dents that indicate the need for replacement before safety falls off. Since the Hood is literally the first barrier in the case of a fender bender, ignoring damage puts important components and people inside the vehicle at risk, making timely attention a simple yet important step in preserving the unique mixture of utility and comfort that defines the Honda Ridgeline.
