To fix late-model Acura and Honda cars, park in neutral, apply the emergency brake, and block the back wheels. Support your vehicle by raising it and blocking the wheels on special stands. Unscrew the four bolts holding the transmission range switch cover, and take it off. To get to the transmission range switch connector, first press and lift up the tiny release clip inside the cable, then pull out the electronic plug. Take the transmission switch mounting bolts out and remove the switch. Make sure the transmission range switch points to NEUTRAL before putting in the new one by hearing a click when you set it correctly. Put the transaxle control shaft into NEUTRAL position, adjust its gears properly. After aligning straight plastic wires or drill bits into the switch's holes, put the switch and control shaft in NEUTRAL position simultaneously. Screw the mounting bolts while keeping the switch from moving. Lastly, turn your ignition to ON, push the shift lever through all speeds, and make sure the transmission switch matches the gear display on the dash. Check that the car doesn't start up when you move the shift lever in any gear besides Park or Neutral, and that backup lights come on when you switch to Reverse.
