To change the transmission range switch on 2001-2004 Acura and Honda models, put the shift lever in NEUTRAL, apply the parking brake and block rear wheels. Lift the vehicle until it is supported by jackstands. Disconnect the transmission range switch electrical connector and remove the wiring harness. Take off the cover bolts as well as the switch cover, then switch mounting bolts. Be sure that switch and control shaft are in Neutral before installation. Reassemble reverse, tighten up bolts, and check synchronization.
