Before disconnecting the battery cable or the radio electrical connectors, note the radio security code, as the radio will not function until the code is entered after disconnection. The models equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) that includes an air bag require disabling the SRS when working near components such as impact sensors, the air bag module, steering column, and instrument panel. Begin by noting the radio security code and disconnecting the negative battery cable, then disable the SRS. Proceed to remove components including the console, glove box, driver's side lower dash cover, driver's side lower knee bolster, lower center console trim, center pocket/beverage holder, center console, center dashboard lower cover, dashboard center panel, and driver's side electric switch panel. Next, remove the
Instrument Cluster, detach the driver's air bag electrical connector, and lower the steering column. Unsnap the driver's side dash cover, remove the screw in the passenger's lower side cover, and unsnap to remove. Detach the dash electrical connectors from the upper portion of the left side under dash fuse/relay panel, remove the two fasteners, and move the left side under dash fuse/relay panel aside. Disconnect the antenna lead and harness clips, remove the electrical connector holder from the dashboard frame, unbolt the control unit/relay bracket from behind the center of the dash, and remove the dash panel bolts. Cover the lower inside of the windshield trim with protective tape, verify that all electrical connectors, brackets, and clips have been disconnected, and carefully lift and remove the dashboard assembly. Installation follows the reverse order of removal, ensuring proper activation of the SRS and entry of the radio security code.
