How to remove, inspect and install the Control Arm on Honda Ridgeline?

Honda models along with Acura models released before 2006 need an exclusive device to split the ball joint from the lower control arm from the steering knuckle. First tight the wheel lug nuts from the decided disassembly side followed by applying the parking brake then lifting the vehicle using a jack stand and removing the wheel. Pull out the lock pin on the castle nut before tuning the nut down to achieve proper space between the knuckle and the nut. Before inserting the ball joint separating tool make sure you shield the ball joint grease seal from damage then lubricate the tool areas which will contact the surfaces. You should detach the ball joint stud from the steering knuckle before taking out the castle nut to fully separate the ball joint assembly. Do not stretch the inner CV joint and prevent pulling on the lower ball joint from the steering knuckle. Disembark the two bolts that fasten the control arm to the sub frame. Check the control arm for any sign of bend because attempting to straighten it will lead to replacement of the arm when replacement parts become available. The bushings need inspection before replacing the control arm when any detected damage such as cracks, tears or wear exists. You can install the ball joint by reversing the removal procedure while tightening the lower torque value on the stud castle nut and lining up the slots on the nut with the stud. You need to install a fresh lock pin with brand-new mounting fasteners for the control arm. The control arm outer end requires a floor jack to lift it to ride height before torquing the sub frame bolts to their specified values. Complete the job by placing the tire and lugs then lowering the vehicle to the ground before tightening the lug nuts to their correct specification.
